A Peek at the Process

This website is obsolete. Please visit me at www.GardenFables.com to see all my new plaques, more information about my process and to find out where I'll be exhibiting. Thanks!

"It all starts with my original carving to illustrate one of my favorite Aesop's fables." (see photo to the right) Step 1 - Lynne Carving
Step 2 - Prepare the casting "After I've carved the original out of wood, I prepare a clear resin casting. This allows me to make as many molds as I need without ruining the wood of the original carving."
"Here, I’m pouring the mold material into the frame. The molds will deteriorate with use so I need to be able to make many molds." Step 3 - Pouring the Mold Material
Step 4 - Mixing and Pouring "In my humidity controlled casting room, the copper powder is first mixed with Part B of the resin. As soon as Part A of the resin touches Part B, I have two minutes to thoroughly mix and pour the mixture before it’s unworkable."
"The pressure is on!
I have time enough to make two castings before the mixture is too thick to pour. I’ll be able to remove the castings from the mold in ten minutes. They’ll be hard enough to sand tomorrow."
Step 5 - Pouring
